Is this course for you? This course is designed for anyone who loves people, meeting, greeting and is interested in the hairdressing industry and learning how a well run reception can make a huge difference to a hairdressing salon. This course provides the learner with the knowledge and skills to fulfil salon reception duties. The skills developed by the learner include handling enquiries, scheduling and recording appointments and handling payments. The knowledge acquired by the learner will enable them to understand how to handle confidential data information, the importance of recording appointments and secure payment methods.
What do you need to get on the course? You need no experience in hairdressing or the services that are provided in a salon but this course is suitable to those already working in a salon wishing to gain qualifications or advance their career.
How long is the course? 40 learning hours
When would you be attending? This course can be taken on a full time or part time basis

What is the course about?
Core skills that are taught are: How to deal with enquiries in person, telephone or writing regarding clients or non clients, Cost of services and products, Duration of services, pre service requirements,availability, Payments by cash, cheques, credit/debit card, vouchers
Is work experience a necessary part of the course? Yes - If you are not currently working in a salon, Salon Educators can arrange this for you.
How will you be assessed? By an assignment covering practical skills and the underpinning knowledge
What qualifications will you achieve? Completion of the course provides credit towards a City & Guilds IVQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing (6902) (6902)
What can this course lead to? This course can lead towards completion of City & Guilds IVQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing (6902), and / or employment as a receptionist within a salon. To obtain the City & Guilds International Award in Salon Reception (6902-71) there are additional units that will be required. Working in Hairdressing (unit 601), Maintain Health and Safety in the Salon (unit 602) and Display Stock to Promote Sales in a Salon (unit 617). These courses are available from Salon Educators at additional cost.
